Homeowners near busy streets, freeways, and infrastructure struggle with intrusive noise that degrades outdoor living quality and reduces property values by $50-200K. Current solutions rely on trial-and-error—expensive fencing and landscaping with uncertain results—while buyers lack tools to accurately assess noise impact before purchasing.
A mobile/web SaaS platform that uses smartphone microphones and public traffic/flight data to create precise noise maps of any property, then applies acoustic simulation AI to design optimized mitigation solutions (barrier height/density, vegetation placement, active masking systems) with cost estimates and effectiveness predictions.
Remote work has increased time spent at home by 40%, making outdoor space quality critical; advances in mobile sensor accuracy and edge AI enable professional-grade acoustic analysis; real estate markets are increasingly transparent about environmental factors affecting value.
Hi all, We found a house after about 5 years of searching on and off. This house checks a lot of our boxes including keeping kid in same school system and amazing backyard. Our son has special needs so keeping him in the same schools is important. He is also a gross motor play type kid and we spend lots of time outside. The only thing is that the house backs up to a busy road. It has great fencing so I’m not concerned about safety, but I am concerned about the elevated noise level from our current home. It’s not a highway, but definitely has consistent movement of cars and big trucks. Not constant, but follows patterns through the day. I really want this house. Will I get used to noisier road or should I take this as a a big red flag. We don’t think that we’ll find this type of house for this price easily. Give me your feedback or experience in this type of situation. Thank you!!

My wife and I are looking to buy a home, and a lot of the ones that seem to fall in budget always have the backyard against a freeway. I know this impacts property value because of road noise, but is it really intolerable? If it makes the difference of 200-300k (which is what it kind of seems like in the areas we are looking it) is it worth it? or will we be miserable in a few years? Would love to hear thoghts from both people that live along a freeway, and RE agents opinioons.
People with homes or yard siding to a busy street(35 mph 2 lanes) what have you found to be the most effective to reduce road noise? I see most home have the cypress/arborvitaes do they work well? Don’t have issue with noise inside home. It’s when we are at the yard. We have a 6 foot fence already but still hear loud swish
Looking at a place in Forest Hill (NSW) and only after checking Google Maps properly I realised there’s a full-on transformer/substation right across the road. House is nice, price is decent, but I’m worried about: noise, resale value, and whether the location will turn buyers/tenants off in the future. Anyone lived near one? Is it a nightmare or no big deal? Would you walk away? image : [https://imgur.com/a/RYf61o8](https://imgur.com/a/RYf61o8)
