Consumers are overwhelmed by the sheer number of smart lock options and struggle to determine which locks are compatible with their specific door type, thickness, and existing hardware. Beyond physical fit, users have varying technical requirements—offline-only operation, local network control, fingerprint support, or specific protocols like ZigBee—making selection even harder. Real-world reviews are inconsistent, leaving buyers uncertain about reliability and day-to-day usability.
A web and mobile tool where users input their door specifications (photos, measurements, lock style, region) and preferences (offline-only, fingerprint, protocol, app ecosystem) to receive a curated shortlist of compatible smart locks with verified compatibility data. The tool aggregates real-user reliability ratings, battery life reports, and installation difficulty scores, filtering out options that won't physically fit or meet the user's privacy and connectivity requirements.
The smart lock market is rapidly expanding with new models releasing constantly, making selection increasingly difficult. Growing consumer demand for privacy-respecting, local-first smart home devices adds another layer of complexity that existing retailer search filters don't address.
This is a Baldwin door and I’m trying to get a smart lock for it. When it’s locked and you turn the inside door knob it will unlock the deadbolt and open the door in one motion. From the outside side it works with a standard house key. I just don’t know what smart device will work with it. TIA.
