The Problem

Merchants preparing for agent-initiated purchases must distinguish legitimate delegated transactions from fraud while ensuring that agents never receive raw card credentials. Payment, consent, spending-limit, merchant-authorization, and audit controls must work together, but most commerce teams lack an implementation blueprint for this emerging checkout flow.

Potential Solution

Offer a fixed-scope readiness audit followed by implementation support for merchants adopting Stripe's agentic payment capabilities. The service maps purchase and refund flows, configures token and authorization policies, defines exception handling, coordinates fraud controls, and tests transactions in a sandbox before launch. Delivery can begin as expert project work and later become a repeatable certification and testing package.

Why Now?

Payment providers are introducing shared, context-restricted tokens that let AI agents purchase without handling card details. Merchants need operational and risk controls before exposing these flows to real customers, creating an early implementation and assurance market.

But you trust them to process the payment and secure those details. I think once a PSP gets into the consumer space and builds a, some sort of wallet with consumer identification, consent, limits, connected payment methods and authorizations and specific merchants that agents are allowed to transact at. You kind of got both sides of that, transaction covered because you already know if you're a merchant, let's say you're a merchant with Stripe embedded as part of the payment process and you're a consumer with a Stripe consumer wallet. You already know who's making that transaction at the point at the point at the point at which they kind of hit their consent or hit authorization.
