The Problem

Taxpayers receive confusing IRS notices after filing or amending returns, often showing unexpected balances, missing forms, payment mismatches, or unclear refund/account transcript entries. Many users cannot tell whether the issue is a preparer mistake, IRS processing mismatch, missing documentation, or a normal delayed balance notice.

Potential Solution

A web app scans IRS notices, tax returns, amendments, payment records, and transcripts to explain the notice in plain language and identify the likely discrepancy. It then creates a personalized action plan with required forms, supporting documents, response deadlines, and optional escalation to a vetted tax professional for complex cases.

Why Now?

More taxpayers are filing online, amending returns digitally, and relying on fragmented tax software outputs while IRS notice volume and online account usage continue to grow. AI document parsing makes it practical to automate first-pass notice triage at consumer scale.

Any of your clients or you got IRS balance due letter for 2025 tax year yet?
Jun 2, 2026

I got several calls and emails from clients who are waiting for the IRS to send them balance due letters in the mail and see the balance due posted at their IRS Online account. Even I am waiting for the IRS tax due letter for what I owe on my 2025 tax return. Wonder if you tax preps also in the same boat, waiting for the IRS to send letters of balance dues to your clients? I can not find the official IRS announcement that they are delaying or will send out the 2025 tax balance dues by letter and/or post the balance dues at the IRS account so the clients can set up payment plan.

Confused about repayment of Advance Premium Tax Credit
Jun 2, 2026

Quick disclaimer, I know I probably did a lot of stupid things here. I'm trying to navigate through life better but the tax system and health insurance are baffingly confusing to me. In 2025, I was uninsured for most of the year after getting laid off. I was pretty depressed and didn't bother signing up for health insurance right after. In April, I signed up through Massachusetts Health Connector and reported my income as what I made at my job for 2 months and my total expected unemployment income, plus interest on savings. I got a plan for a $435 premium with a $47 tax credit. I paid for the first month but then I stopped paying because it was too expensive. I went uninsured until October, when I signed up again. I wanted to check if I report my current income ($0) or annual income, so I called and the person on the phone told me it was just my current income. I was ignorant about where the discounted price of the premiums comes from and don't recall that being made clear that it was essentially a tax credit so I went along. The enrollment premium for that plan was $387.45 and the tax credit was $330. I paid for that for 2 months then stopped. My 1095-A reports the premiums and credits for April, May, Oct, Nov, Dec. I only paid the premiums for April, Oct, and Nov, but my insurers received tax credits for all of the months reported. Shouldn't they not have received tax credits for the months I wasn't covered? Why do I have to repay tax credits for months I wasn't insured?

Missing info from my amended return
Jun 2, 2026

I filed my amended return in March because I needed to add my 1098-T (I thought my mom was going to claim me, but she ended up not being able to). Everything was accepted and processed. I just got a letter a few days ago stating that my amended return does not have my 1098-T form, although all of the information is on my amended return (I just checked today). I filed through Turbotax and did everything online. Do I have to refile or can I just submit the separate form? The letter doesn’t give me any information on what to do and I was on hold for 2 hours today.

Jackson Hewitt filed an error
Jun 2, 2026

My parents are having some issues with their taxes. They usually get my aunt to help them as she is a cpa but has been too busy this year I particular. They decided to file with Jackson Hewitt and they said to expect about 1500 back but then received a letter from the irs saying their was an error and they owe 2500. It looks like JH used box 26 incorrectly? They owed 3500 last year and paid that amount (out of my dads 401k 🙄) ( my mom was in the hospital with 2 major surgeries in 2024 and they were behind on a lot because of it.) Anyway, they put the 3500 into box 26 and I think thats what messed it up. They did also get a letter saying an overpayment from their 2024 taxes was used to pay a past due amount from 22 that was also paid in full?? Not sure what the hell happened with that. Please advise. My parents are not tech savvy and I am trying to help as best I can.
