Email marketers consistently find their carefully designed campaigns broken by dark mode rendering across mobile devices and email clients. Brand colors lose contrast, logos on transparent backgrounds become invisible, text colors invert unexpectedly, and hidden elements become visible — all without any reliable built-in fix from platforms like Klaviyo, ConvertKit, or Iterable. Most teams lack the specialized HTML/CSS knowledge to manually code dark mode overrides, and existing meta-tag workarounds fail on major clients like Gmail mobile.
A tool that ingests email HTML (or integrates directly with popular ESP platforms) and automatically applies dark-mode-safe transformations: adding targeted CSS overrides, swapping transparent PNGs for dark-mode-compatible versions, adjusting color contrast ratios, and generating inline styles that survive aggressive client rendering. Users preview the result across a simulated matrix of clients and devices before sending, ensuring brand consistency without manual coding or dual designs.
Dark mode adoption has surpassed 80% on mobile devices, yet email rendering engines remain fragmented and inconsistent in how they handle it. As brands invest more in email as a revenue channel through platforms like Klaviyo and ConvertKit, the gap between design intent and dark mode reality is becoming a top pain point with no adequate native solution from any major ESP.
Hey everyone! I have a problem with the html footer in dark mode. In white mode on desktop its not visible at all (1px and white colour), but in dark mode mobile it turns into this (the picture attached). The font becomes bigger and visible. Is there any way to fix that? Thank you! preview.redd.it/.../ocjrm2tbov1f1.jpg
I manage our companies email templates through a 3rd party who also does our development. When we set up our templates with them, the focus was on light mode and making sure all the brand guidelines were kept. For darkmode, all I worried about was that everything was eligible. Now however, some of the business has seen our emails in dark mode and is not happy with the colours and are asking me to change them. How do people approach dark mode? Do you make sure that your emails looks "good" both light and dark (with a little leeway on dark)? I know it can't be perfect but I think I went a bit too quickly on signing off the dark mode emails. Issues will be a limit of colours from our brand guidelines, but that's another issue :D
Hey everyone, I’m back again, still learning and struggling a bit with email design in Klaviyo. So here’s what’s happening: I sliced up some images in Figma and imported them into Klaviyo. Then, I added the text and buttons directly in Klaviyo and made sure to set both the content and block backgrounds. Everything looked perfect in the preview. But when I sent the test email to my iPhone (which is always in **dark mode**), the design looked totally off. Some blocks with images appeared different or washed out. When I switched my phone to **light mode**, it suddenly looked normal again. Has anyone run into this issue? I’ve attached screenshots for reference. Any advice on how to make the design look consistent across both dark and light modes would be super appreciated. preview.redd.it/.../rqmambvk7quf1.png preview.redd.it/.../6uk8ohvk7quf1.png
Currently under resourced and don't really want to do two designs for each email /change colour scheme - best option I've found so far is using a meta tag that forces light mode, doesn't work on Gmail mobile though, are there any better options ?
My team is working on an email to customers (using Iterable) and it seems on iPhone specifically that our email in dark mode is inverting all dark images to light. This becomes problematic because now some of the images really can't be seen well as they are in black. This includes our logo which is black. Anyone know how to solve this or somewhere I can triple click on to figure out what to do? Most of what I've found so far hasn't been useful for me to understand what to do.
