The Problem

Borrowers struggle to understand whether refinancing, paying extra principal, trading in, or keeping an existing loan will actually save money. Auto, EV, PCP, and home equipment financing often include confusing rates, equity positions, GAP refunds, balloon payments, and dealer incentives that make apples-to-apples comparison difficult.

Potential Solution

A web app that ingests current loan details, vehicle or equipment value, credit profile, fees, insurance add-ons, and refinance offers, then models total cost, monthly payment, break-even points, and risk scenarios. It would surface ranked options such as refinance now, make a lump-sum payment first, cash-out refinance, keep loan, trade in, or return PCP vehicle, with lender-ready calculations and document checklists.

Why Now?

High interest rates, volatile vehicle values, and rapid EV depreciation are making financing decisions harder for everyday borrowers. Consumers are increasingly shopping refinance offers online but lack a neutral tool that calculates the real outcome across loan types.

I want to trade in but i can’t decide to invest in my car.
Jun 10, 2026

I currently have no debt other than my car. I am the most up to date on my payments and never missed a payment. I also have ‘great’ credit to kind of put myself on the situation. I am currently in an iffy situation because i am having issues with my car as it my first vehicle, I am not looking forward to getting rid of it as it is really good on gas. I have a 2020 Buick Encore Base model with 98,000km+ mileage on it. Recently I had some work done on my car but felt like i have more issues than resolutions with my car since I had a check engine light serviced which cost me about upwards of $5,000+. I have about $15,000 left to pay it off and 3.5 years left to show for it which leads me to my contemplation. I want to trade it in but my partner says that i should invest into it. I also have an uncle who says it is coming close to planned obsolescence which is an 8 year period or between 100,000km - 200,000km mileage. So in simplicity it is difficult for me to decide on the best course of action as i am taking into consideration of both sides which is difficult for me as i would prefer to keep the car only on the basis that it is great in gas but at the same time considering that planned obsolescence is a thing that prevents me from getting the best out of my situation. To put into perspective with no judgement on my partner, she has not owned a vehicle and my uncle used to be a mechanic. So as you can see this is where the difficulty arises along with the opinion of the local mechanic. He mentions the things i could get fixed at a more equipped shop as he doesn’t have the proper equipment to fix my issues. On top of that, i have an 18% interest with my finance that i won’t be able to pay towards to get rid of the loan to gain my vehicle in the first place. Any helpful advice would greatly be appreciated.

How do I get a lower rate when refinancing my car
Jun 10, 2026

I bought a car a few months ago. I financed $50k after $5k down. I have a 6.99% rate for 5 years. I can afford the payment no problem but I pay a lot in interest and kind of dont want to. Some of the refi offers were at 6.1%, better but not worse. If I put a payment like $5k or 10k onto my current loan then do a refi would the rate be lower? Also for refrence my credit score is 780 but I am 23.

PCP advice
Jun 10, 2026

I’m stuck and just can’t get my ahead around this to decide if what I’ve done is foolish or smart! Friendly advice welcome! I’m self employed and vat registered. I do quite a bit of driving for work. I traded in my car last year after hounding various garages to get the best deal. It was costing me money, various things going wrong ect ect I got the best offer with a PCP for an EV and my monthly payment are €350. Various options with PCP when the 3 years are up, I plan to hand the car back and take a new car on PCP. Understanding that if you go over the mileage allowance (60k km) you must pay for the additional mileage. My car is a 252, I have my car a year in July 2026 and I’m already at 40k km. I spoke with a car sales person yesterday and she advised returning in October to look at trading in for a 271. I asked her if I was foolish doing it this way and she kind of said there are a lot of people who do…but… When I trade in I will most likely have to put €2-5k with it to keep my monthly payments at €350. Likely to be getting a new car every 18mnts, so again in 282. Seems insane. Am I foolish? The repayments are great and I have no car trouble. Also the payments can go through the business, vat ect. I run the car for little to nothing compared to my old diesel car. New set of tyres, where I would pay to change twice a year so that’s an extra €650 in my pockets. Free first year service so really I won’t be paying for any servicing at all if I’m replacing every 18months. Is this madness?
