A gentle task-starting app that turns brain dumps and calendar gaps into tiny next actions.
Added Jun 23, 2026
People with ADHD, anxiety, and executive dysfunction often know what they need to do but cannot start, especially when an appointment or deadline later in the day creates waiting mode. Traditional to-do lists, reminders, and note apps can feel rigid, noisy, or overwhelming. The unmet workflow is not task storage, but fast capture followed by low-pressure conversion into one doable next step.
Build a lightweight mobile or web app where users dump thoughts by text or voice, then receive a short prioritized list of tiny next actions. The app reads calendar availability, detects waiting-mode windows, and suggests one short starter task with a gentle focus timer or body-doubling prompt. The first version can focus on brain dump capture, AI task breakdown, Google Calendar sync, and non-guilt follow-ups.
Recent signals show multiple solo developers independently building ADHD-friendly task and CBT apps, suggesting active demand and dissatisfaction with standard productivity tools. AI makes it practical to turn messy, natural-language brain dumps into structured next actions in real time.

Hey folks 👋 I'm Stan. ADHD brain, and for the last year I've been building BrightMind, a voice AI companion that plans your day on top of the tools you already use: Todoist or TickTick, plus Google Calendar. They stay your source of truth, BrightMind sits in front of them. **You talk, it files.** Say what's on your mind, five things in one breath if that's how it comes out, and each lands in your task manager as a clean task with the right list, date, and priority. "Hey Siri, capture in BrightMind" does it from the lock screen, watch, or car. **One timeline for the whole day.** The new Home screen merges timed tasks, calendar events, habits, and scheduled check-in calls into a single day view, with the free slots visible in between. Tap a slot to plan something into it. Tap a task and it helps you start, breaking it into one small first step. **It clears backlogs with you.** When overdue tasks pile up, it offers to go through them: do, move, complete, or drop. My users with ADHD bring this one up the most. **It calls you.** Schedule a morning planning call or an evening check-in and BrightMind rings you, walks through the day with you, and updates your lists as you talk. **It remembers how you work.** Energy patterns, projects, how you like tasks organized. Tell it once, it applies everywhere. Native tasks and habits inside BrightMind are on the way too, for people who don't run Todoist or TickTick. Hi r/SideProject I first launched [ikoi](ikoi.app) 2 months ago. **What it is. And how it's different from other productivity apps.** **1. Energy gating** \- Every task is assigned a energy rating. Low, Medium, High. Tasks are gated by energy so when have you low energy you don't need to see tasks which require high energy. That just clogs up your mind. **2. Spoon theory built in** \- You can also set effort (spoons) required per task and set a daily budget. If your day has tasks what exceed that, you see a small hint that you have exceeded your budget. This grounds your tasks. You can also set maximum amount of tasks you should be able to do per day. These are not hard rules. You can exceed them if you want. But it's there so you know what you are dealing with. **3. Focus mode and body doubling** \- Although not for everyone body doubling helps a lot of people with adhd. So you can join a focus group, see what others are working on while you work on your thing. You can also create private focus rooms and invite your friends. **4. Warm not corporate** \- Not a feature but about aesthetics, there are themes, icon sets and fonts which can make the app feel more warm. You can also create your own icon sets and themes and also optionally share it with others. **5. Quick add and brain dumps** \- Quick add like todoist. Just type it out and it gets converted to a task. No need to fiddle with a list of options. You can also brain dump your thoughts as a note. And convert them to tasks when you want. **6. Anti patterns** \- No streaks and there will be none. Therapy helped me a lot, but I found myself forgetting or not using CBT techniques because they were buried in notes, worksheets, or random pieces of paper. So I spent 9 months building a small app to make them easier to access when I need them. I vowed no ads, no subscriptions because they are annoying. Just something I wish I had earlier. It’s published on the App Store, and I’d love honest feedback from people who have experience with anxiety, depression, or CBT. What would make an app like this genuinely useful to you? apps.apple.com/.../id6781057586
