The Problem

Hybrid athletes and serious recreational lifters often train across incompatible formats: sets and reps, bodyweight movements, timed intervals, mobility work, jumps, sprints, and distance sessions. Existing workout apps tend to force users into rigid gym templates, while general notes apps lose structure and make progress hard to analyze. The repeated pain is not motivation or education, but capturing messy real-world training quickly and turning it into usable progression data.

Potential Solution

Build a mobile-first workout logger with flexible exercise schemas, letting users record load, reps, RPE, time, distance, range of motion, bodyweight assistance, or custom metrics in any combination. The first product surface should be a fast session log with reusable templates, superset support, offline mode, and simple trend charts for e1RM, volume, adherence, and performance metrics. Later versions can sync HealthKit, Google Fit, Strava, or Garmin data and add correlation insights across recovery, habits, and training performance.

Why Now?

Hybrid training, CrossFit-style workouts, and mixed strength-endurance programming are increasingly common, but most tracking tools still reflect single-mode gym routines. AI-assisted development has also lowered the cost for solo builders to ship polished niche fitness tools quickly.

Building an AI-powered workout app with feedback from our gym members
r/indianstartupsJul 19, 2026

My family owns a gym here in New Delhi, and I consider myself a serious lifter, Have won in powerlifting at state level. I have a bachelors in Computer Engineering and a Masters in Computer Application. The idea started when i wanted to recommend the workouts that i do to my friends, Apps like Hevy have limited routines in free model. So i thought maybe i should build an app that my friends and gym members can use to follow and track their workouts. The idea grew and i added features beyond plain and simple logging as i started talking to people at our gym. What I kept running into is that there are two kinds of people who train and don't really get anywhere. **The first is people whose schedule won't cooperate.** Delhi traffic being what it is, someone with a workplace across the city genuinely cannot commit to a fixed 5-day split. And the problem isn't just missing days, it's that on the days they *do* make it, they have to sit there doing mental math. Which muscles do I pair now? What order? I skipped Tuesday, so is today push or legs? That's a lot of mental friction before you've even touched a barbell. Most of these people quit once their initial membership runs out. **The second is people who show up consistently but aren't paying attention to the weight.** These people do the same weight for months, while progressive overload is the actual mechanism. These guys don't need a more flexible plan, they need someone telling them to add 2.5kg and confirming it'll be benifical to do so. So the app ended up trying to solve both. If you miss days, it rearranges the plan around you instead of making you do the math. If you're training consistently, it looks at what you've actually been lifting and tells you what to push next session, rather than just storing the numbers and leaving you to interpret them. I am planning to train my own ML model for this specific purpose which will (hopefully) r...

built a fitness app with a coach who calls you out when you skip workouts
r/SideProjectJul 12, 2026

I didn’t want to build another generic fitness tracker. I wanted to create something unique—an app that doesn’t just record your workouts, but feels like it actually knows you. In TrackFull, your AI coach learns from your goals, training history, progress and recent activity. It can recommend workouts, adapt its guidance and notice when you’ve stopped showing up. I also wanted each coach to have a real personality. Some are supportive, some are more direct, but the goal is the same: make fitness feel more personal, engaging and less lonely. It’s a mix of personalized AI coaching, fitness tracking, anime characters and RPG-style progression. Basically, a coach in your pocket ,one that won’t quietly let you give up. Would this motivate you ? [app store](apps.apple.com/.../id6761677952) [play store](play.google.com/.../details)
