Strength trainees want to log lifts quickly during workouts, track PRs, and know what weight or volume to do next. Existing fitness apps are perceived as too expensive, bloated with accounts, cloud sync, AI coaching, and social features, or too basic to support real progression. The repeated frustration is not general fitness education, but the in-gym workflow of logging sets and adjusting future training.
Build a focused offline-first workout tracker for strength and bodybuilding routines with fast logging, rest timers, PR detection, automatic warm-up sets, progression rules, and exportable data. Start with proven programs like 5x5, linear progression, and bodybuilding volume autoregulation instead of generic AI workout generation. Monetize with a low-cost one-time purchase or small pro upgrade rather than a high recurring subscription.
Fitness apps are increasingly adding subscriptions, AI features, and cloud accounts while a segment of lifters is explicitly asking for simpler tools. Multiple independent builders are converging on the same gap, suggesting validated frustration but also rising competition.

A rare gem of an app. I’ve used this consistently for a full decade now. If you want a straightforward logging without annoying ads, subscription pop-ups, or complicated drama, this is the one. It just works, every single time. Simple and best!
A lot of previously free features have been taken out of the basic version and put behind a paywall. Uploading progress photos is now a premium feature. The Strength Score and Strength Balance numbers are now only for paying customers. These were all standard features for all users when I used the app previously. I can't fathom why I need to pay a subscription to be able to upload a progress photo or put in a super set. I recommend "Gym log - Strive" instead
Very useful app for tracking workouts over time. Pretty extensive exercise library- it usually has what I'm looking for. The videos are helpful too for trying new things and I think the free version has a good amount of features. However, the interface could be better. I only use this to track custom workouts and getting to my saved custom workouts takes more steps than necessary and it was really complicated figuring out how to name them. I still recommend i
