Cat hasn’t pooped in a week

Pic is her in her fresh catnip pot. ❤️ She is an indoor cat - I only bring her out in the backyard occasionally so she can roll around in her catnip. I mention this because I have checked everywhere. She simply has not pooped on a week. We’re at the emergency vet and have a very long wait ahead of us. I have added water to her food for the last 2 weeks because I worried she may be constipated and noticed she was only going a couple of times a week regularly. Has anyone else had an extremely constipated cat?? The animal hospital seems to think a week is unbelievable. Triage checked her vitals and she is stable but I’m so worried. 1 hour update: she started tremoring while waiting for the vet. I grabbed a tech and they brought her back to keep an eye on her while the vet transfers another emergency patient. She’s up next. 2 hour update: vet sent me home while they give her an enema. The vet said she has seen worse, but I don’t want to bring her home just to bring her back. Thanks everyone for your kind words and non judgement. I’ll give another update when I can bring her home. **Last update**: she’s home and walking funny but an enema did the trick and she was quite blocked up. The vet said it’s good I brought her in because she could have needed surgery if we waited longer. She got some sedation medication for her tremoring. The vet thinks she was just very scared. We were sent home with some oral meds until her stool becomes regular again. So all in all, $600+ emergency vet bill for constipation. I’m really grateful she is okay and I got to bring my baby home today. Thank you everyone for your suggestions on dietary supplements and the *unseasoned* pumpkin purée recommendation. I’ll be stocking up on those and doing my best to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Constipated kitty

Hi everyone, my 20 year old stage 3 kidney disease baby girl has been stable for the last year with her blood panels, so the fluids have been helping. But last week she had an episode of straining and bloody drops came out, I wasn’t sure if it was from trying to pee or poo so I took her to the vet right away. They did a full blood panel, ultrasound and urine test, they couldn’t find any signs of a urinary infection, thankfully, she’s peeing normally, so we’ve ruled out a urinary blockage. Ever since she had that episode her poops have been much smaller, and as of yesterday morning she has not pooped at all. So yesterday afternoon, I took her into the vet because I did notice one more episode of squatting where she was straining and a little bit of mucus with a tiny bit of blood came out, but since she’s been peeing, normally it led me to assume that she might be constipated. So I told her about all of this. They did a second ultrasound, and they did see that there was some poop in her colon, so they recommended to increase her fluids, which I did however nearly 12 hours later she still hasn’t pooped. Her appetite is not fully gone so she will have a few little bites here and there, but she’s not eating nearly as much as she normally does, and she also hasn’t been drinking much water out of her fountain. I’ve tried all kinds of treats, and her appetite is just not quite there, I even tried mixing in a little bit of pumpkin into her wet food, but she didn’t like that either. The vet did give me some liquid food I can give her with a syringe, so I’ll be doing that. But I’m very worried as she is not pooping, and the vet did not prescribe any laxative, so I’m wondering if I should consult a different vet and possibly get laxative and what is a safe laxative for a very old cat with a sensitive system. No Bowel Movement in Almost 3 Days

Hi y’all. I’m 26; in the US; contacted vet but getting limited response but can go to VERG (Vet ER); my cat is a female DSH 18lbs (ik im working on her losing weight); spayed; and I can’t really afford a $1k ER visit. TDLR: Cat had a pancreatitis flare up starting Monday night. She was on Ondansetron for 2 days (Tuesday and Wednesday) and as of this morning (Thursday) is on Cerenia. Vet recommended we give small meals throughout the day with wet food, and water with pedialyte. She is her usual self, but hasn’t used the bathroom since Monday night. Should I be concerned/what to do? —————————————————————- Hi everyone, My car has been experiencing a pancreatitis flare up where she was having vomiting spells. It started Monday afternoon. Starting Monday night, I gave her Ondansetron and starting today (Thursday) I have her Cerenia. Shes been eating small meals throughout the day—very different from her usual routine. Wet food twice a day, 4 small servings of dry kibble (her fave). We switched to a non-fatty option. Thankfully, she is no longer vomiting! Anyway, she hasn’t pooped since Monday night. She is peeing pretty typical, 1-2x a day. But other than that, no poop. She doesn’t seem to be in pain. She is jumping onto beds and couches to sit next to people, running up the stairs, nagging for food and walking around. Shes a very lazy cat so she lounges, but she doesn’t seem to be in pain. But I’m still concerned that she hasn’t pooped for almost 3 days as of tonight. I haven’t heard back from her vet yet and I see people in this thread talk about using MiraLAX powder? Google says take her to the ER if she hasn’t pooped in 72hours but I can’t really afford that bill after all the money I spent on prescriptions and stuff. I’m also currently in school.
