The Problem

New parents constantly struggle to determine the right sleepwear and sleep sack TOG rating for their baby as seasons and room temperatures fluctuate. With safety guidelines warning against overheating and under-dressing, parents are waking at odd hours, manually adjusting thermostats, and second-guessing every layering decision — often with babies who run hot or have skin sensitivities like eczema.

Potential Solution

A mobile app that takes inputs — room temperature (current and forecasted overnight low), baby's age, skin sensitivities, and available sleep sacks/clothing — and outputs a precise dressing recommendation with TOG guidance. It integrates with smart home thermostats and weather APIs to proactively alert parents before bedtime if conditions require a clothing change, eliminating middle-of-the-night guesswork.

Why Now?

Smart baby monitors (like Owlet) have normalized data-driven infant care, creating a ready audience for companion tools that close the loop between temperature data and actionable dressing guidance. Millennial and Gen Z parents are highly app-reliant and willing to pay for products that reduce infant sleep anxiety.

Eight Sleep

Loving my eight sleep When I get into bed and it’s already warm, it’s like a hug from my bed, lol. Seriously I have had issues with temperature regulation and knowing I can make my bed warmer is such a gift. One thing I would like to say is that I thought that it was going to be reading my body temperature and then make adjustments based on how hot or cold I was and it does not do that. You basically get to set the temperature when you climb in bed and then 15 minutes aft

Nanit

Great App I love all things Nanit, the monitor, sleep sound machine and app. The sleep tracker is great and spot on. It notifies me that a nap is coming up and sure enough 5 minutes later baby is sleepy. My only real complaint is that I wish it had a feature to track pumping times and output. I currently have to use another app to track that and have to bounce back and forth. It would be nice if it had everything consolidated like the Huckleberry app. Other than that I love it.

Welcome Baby: Baby Tracker

I've been using this for six months now, and the daily insights on my baby's patterns have actually helped me spot trends I would've missed otherwise. The app interface is clean and doesn't feel cluttered bc I only see what matters to my baby's current age!
