You could pull music from a local directory, a remote API, and a streaming service, and Pipe Bomb will index all of it and even merge album and artist profiles from across different metadata sources. All of this behaviour is defined by plugins, which you can install in one click. I built this system because my music library was fragmented across multiple streaming services and also a local music library. I couldn't make playlists that included songs from multiple sources, and if I just downloaded all my music then I would lose the ability to easily search for new music. Pipe Bomb solves that by unifying any number of libraries. It's also capable of automatically merging artist and album profiles based on metadata provided by any number of sources. The server makes no assumptions about what your artist, album and track entities should look like, and leaves it up to plugins to define "attributes" like title, cover art, duration, bpm, etc. All of these attributes can be provided by plugins and you get to choose which columns you see in the frontend. All of these custom attributes can be also used to generate "smart playlists" based on criteria that you define. The server also supports "ephemeral sources" which lets you search an external music catalog without PB having to index it all first.
