A personal finance service that keeps a household budget current by combining bank transaction sync, AI categorization, and human-reviewed monthly cleanup.

Medium opportunity (56%)
People want visibility into spending, cash flow, subscriptions, goals, and net worth, but they fall behind when budgeting tools require manual updates. The signals repeatedly mention abandoned spreadsheets, stalled YNAB-style workflows, confusing dashboards, and a desire to ask natural-language questions about real financial data. Trust is a major blocker because users are cautious about giving an AI direct access to sensitive financial accounts.
Start as a hybrid productized service rather than another generic budgeting app: connect a customer's accounts, auto-categorize transactions, flag recurring charges, and deliver a reviewed monthly budget cleanup with a short financial summary. AI handles first-pass categorization, natural-language queries, and spending explanations, while a human reviewer verifies categories and exceptions before advice is sent. Over time, the repeated cleanup workflow can become software-first once categorization accuracy and trust patterns are proven.
Open Banking, receipt upload, and consumer comfort with AI assistants make automated financial tracking more practical. At the same time, the number of new AI finance apps suggests founder interest is high, but trust and retention remain unresolved.

This app is exceedingly difficult to use. Instead of using AI analysis on information that is imported from your bank accounts, it uses a regex-style categorization tool and gets 85 to 90% of my transactions mislabeled. For instance, it pulled from an account that says 2023 Tesla Model Y and the description says Payment Thank You Transfer, and it puts it into the transfer category, says the merchant is Thank You, and automatically hides it from my expenses.
I love this application day today life. 1. If possible, please add an AI-powered feature that sorts uploaded bills and separates the cost of the same item across different shops, so we can compare prices and identify where to get the lowest price. 2. i need to share the monthly expenses with my partner to track.
I’ve tried standard finance apps and even Caleb Hammer's app, but none of them hit the mark. Origin has everything I need. The AI integration for financial and cost reviews is spot on. I wasn't expecting much, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to manage their finances. Entered a sweepstakes for this review. Opinions are my own
