The Problem

Home cooks enter ingredients for a large batch, then struggle to record the amount they actually eat. Reviewers describe apps treating a whole batch as one serving, changing yield units incorrectly, or making it tedious to adjust items in a saved meal. These gaps make repeat logging unreliable for meal prep.

Potential Solution

Offer a small recipe calculator where a cook enters ingredient amounts and nutrition values, sets the finished batch yield in a chosen unit, and records portions in that same unit. Saved recipes should allow ingredient edits and show nutrition per portion. Start with manual entry and reusable recipes so the first version does not depend on another tracker’s access.

Why Now?

Recent reviews across VeSync, Lose It!, and MyFitnessPal show this workflow remains awkward in several established products. They establish a specific unmet task, though they do not establish willingness to pay.

TapCook: Budget Meal Plans

Needs Work I like the idea! Visually it also looks great. Meals look good. I just think needs to be able to say X amount of people for this amount of meals per week. Such as if I put 2 people and 7 dinners, 7 lunches and 5 breakfast meals. So I think it’s a good app but needs more
