Ingredient-conscious shoppers cannot consistently determine whether unfamiliar food, beauty, and household products meet their requirements. Existing scanners frequently lack international or obscure products, return incorrect matches, hide the decisive ingredient behind subscriptions, or fail when only an ingredient list is available. Incorrect guidance can lead to wasted purchases, allergic reactions, or violations of religious and personal restrictions.
Start as a managed verification service rather than another barcode scanner. Customers submit photographs of the product, ingredient list, and packaging; a trained reviewer identifies questionable ingredients, documents the evidence, and returns a plain-language verdict with confidence and unresolved uncertainties. Repeated reviews create a verified product library, while separate rule packs can cover use cases such as halal compliance, specific allergens, additives, and family-safe cosmetics.
Consumers increasingly use phones while shopping, but current scanner databases remain incomplete and their subscription models create distrust. Modern text extraction and translation can reduce review time while human verification provides the accountability missing from automated scores.

my only complaint is that I wish I found this app sooner! would have saved me so much time reading labels and researching the ingredients. Really beneficial app! The scoring system can be taken with a pinch of salt though, depending on each person. As some items are badly rated due to allergens which may not be affecting each person. but still super helpful for those who do experience allergies to certain ingredients
I continuously recommend this app to friends and family who are also frustrated with the unnecessary “ingredients” added into our food products. Every trip to the grocery store is an adventure scanning old favorites and finding new replacements. Try it, it’s free and you’ll get your eyes opened to the good, the bad and the unpalatable 😝 Great app 5 stars
Food and cosmetic products in the USA often use suspicious and under-researched ingredients. Corporate lobbying runs the show too much. Yuka brings an easy way to check ingredients against scientific studies and EU regulations to reveal when something is informed by FDA here but actually prohibited or considered suspicious in Europe. My only wish is that it did more to help find good alternatives while I am at a physical store, among that store inventory
