The Problem

People often open meditation products while unable to sleep, experiencing panic, or trying to begin a timed practice. Existing products introduce account creation, repeated questionnaires, subscription prompts, streak mechanics, confusing libraries, and playback failures precisely when users need immediate relief. Crashes, streaming dependence, and disruptive pop-ups make the workflow especially unreliable.

Potential Solution

Build an offline-first audio player with a prominent start button, a basic meditation timer, downloaded sessions, and permanent shortcuts to a few favorites. Sell it for a transparent one-time price with a small included audio library, while allowing customers to import their own recordings. The first version should avoid accounts, advertising, social features, streaks, and mandatory personalization.

Why Now?

Large meditation products are adding engagement and subscription mechanics while long-term users are explicitly seeking simpler alternatives. The signals also show repeated dependence on calming audio for sleep and panic, making reliability and immediate access more valuable than a large content catalog.

Balance: Meditation & Sleep

The BEST app on my phone I tried balance for a year last year and I fell in love. But I didn’t renew my subscription for some reason, but I finally did now and I couldn’t be happier. I love the sleep singles, it takes me hours to fall asleep normally and I keep waking up in the middle of the night. The sleep singles helped me fall asleep quicker and there are audios to fall back asleep that I absolutely love. I’m forever subscribed to this app :)

Insight Timer: Meditate, Sleep

Just want to meditate This is the typical experience of an app that gets more complicated over time because people associate new with better. I just want to open the app and meditate and instead I get prompted to set intentions, add widgets, commit to streaks, etc e etc etc etc etc.

Headspace: Sleep & Meditation

There is really no need for AI in a meditation app. I love the app's content. It has amazing, simple guided meditations. The only thing I dislike is that there is an AI pop-up in the new version like a suggestion if you would like to talk to it after your meditation. In my experience, AI is not good for people with mental health issues especially when used for the sole purpose of connection. As a meditation app, it should be simple and have fewer distrac
